Hydrogenated Egg Phosphatidylcholine (Lipoid E PC-3)

Creative Biolabs is a leading service provider and focuses on the field of mRNA delivery. With over ten years' extensive experience, we are confident in offering the best-fit reagents for your mRNA delivery requirements.

Carrier technology plays an essential role in providing novel drug delivery systems to improve drug solubility and stability against metabolism and degradation. Liposomes are one of the most extensively investigated delivery systems due to their high biodegradability and biocompatibility. They can facilitate intracellular delivery and prolong the retention time of entrapped agents inside the cell. In recent years, advanced research in liposome technology has allowed the achievement of suitable formulations to improve drug bioavailability.

Hydrogenated Egg Phosphatidylcholine (Lipoid E PC-3) for Delivery

Phospholipids are molecules in which hydrophilic headgroup and hydrophobic acyl chains are linked to the alcohol. The variation in head groups, aliphatic chains, and alcohols lead to the existence of phospholipids. Various phospholipids, such as soybean phosphatidylcholine, egg phosphatidylcholine, and synthetic phosphatidylcholine, are commonly used in different types of formulations. The results from one study show that the addition of hydrogenated egg phosphatidylcholine (HEPC) can mitigate the toxicity of surfactants. Synthetic surfactants combined with phosphatidylcholine may generate drug delivery systems worthy of more extensive investigation.

Chitosan and egg phosphatidylcholine (ePC) have been used as a unique combination to prepare composite films for localized drug delivery. The chitosan lipid blend serves as the matrix for the delivery system, and drugs are incorporated into nanoparticles dispersed throughout the film. Compared to other phospholipids, ePC produces chitosan-based films with minimal swelling and a high degree of stability. This delivery system would benefit from the properties of both chitosan and PC lipids while providing a sustained release of therapeutically effective levels of the hydrophobic agent over several months.
