Diglyceride is a product obtained by esterification of glycerol (glycerol) with two fatty acids. It is divided into two isomers, 1, 3-glycerol diester and 1, 2-glycerol diester. Diglyceride is also an intermediate compound of lipid metabolism and can be synthesized by chemical or biological enzymes. The raw materials used for diglycerides synthesis include but are not limited to, glycerol, oil, or fatty acids. Pilot studies have indicated that diglyceride is essential for regulating blood lipids, reducing visceral fat, as well as controlling body weight by inhibiting the accumulation of triglycerides and their transport in the human body.
Currently, a wide variety of technologies have been generated for producing diglycerides by chemical glycerolysis. Recent studies have shown that diglycerides have many unique physiological and physicochemical properties, and can be broadly used in food, medicine, cosmetics, and other chemical industries. It is a kind of new chemical raw material with great development prospects.

Recently, the development of an efficient non-toxic delivery system is the key to the success of mRNA-based drugs.
